OASIS

 

Oasis adalah sebuah grup band yang berasal Manchester, Inggris, beraliran Rock, britpop, dan alternative rock serta dibentuk pada tahun 1991. Pada awalnya menggunakan nama The Rain, grup ini dibentuk oleh Liam Gallagher, Paul Arthurs, Paul McGuigan, dan Tony McCarroll, hingga kemudian ikut bergabung pula kakak Liam yaitu Noel Gallagher. Setelah mengganti nama menjadi Oasis, para anggotanya menandatangani kontrak dengan label rekaman indie Creation Recordsdan setelah itu merilis album perdana mereka 'Definitely Maybe' pada tahun 1994. Oasis disebut sebagai salah satu band terbaik dunia era 90-an dan salah satu band paling berpengaruh di Britania Raya. Oasis juga termasuk salah satu band dengan rekor penjualan tertinggi di Britania Raya sepanjang masa, dengan total penjualan album mencapai lebih dari 70 juta di seluruh dunia. Oasis juga sempat terlibat perseteruan dan rivalitas dengan band Inggris lain yaitu Blur, dan rivalitas mereka dijuluki sebagai the Battle of Britpop of the 90s. Band Oasis sendiri akhirnya memutuskan bubar pada tahun 2009. Meski begitu, mereka akan terus dikenang sebagai salah satu band Inggris terpopuler. Dari semua single dan album yang telah mereka rilis, Oasis telah menghasilkan banyak single dan lagu yang menjadi hits dan dan memuncaki beberapa chart tangga lagu barat di Inggris serta meraih berbagai penghargaan bergengsi.
